The Baptist Heritage and Identity Commission is composed of members from around the world who are appointed through the Baptist World Alliance. Members and leaders are elected to serve for five years.

These leaders will guide the Baptist Heritage and Identity Commission from 2020 to 2025:

Chair

Rev. Dr. Melody Maxwell (email)

Dr. Maxwell is the Associate Professor of Church History at Acadia Divinity College in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. She also serves as Director of the Acadia Centre for Baptist and Anabaptist Studies. The author of multiple publications about Baptist women’s history, Dr. Maxwell has also served at Howard Payne University, East Texas Baptist University, Samford University, and Woman’s Missionary Union.

 

 

 


Vice-Chair

Dr. Dinorah Mendez (email)

Dinorah MendezDr. Méndez is currently Fellow in Residence at B.H. Carroll Theological Institute in Texas serving as supervisor of Doctoral students from Latin America. She formerly was Professor of Theology and Church History at Mexican Baptist Theological Seminary, Mexico City for more than 30 years.

In addition, Dr. Méndez serves as lecturer and guest professor at different institutions in México and internationally. Among her publications in English is her doctoral dissertation: Evangelicals in Mexico: Their Hymnody and Its Theology (Brussels: Peter Lang, 2008) as well as articles and chapters in other books. In Spanish, she published commentaries on Pastoral Epistles in Comentario Bíblico Mundo Hispano, Volumen 22 (El Paso, TX: Editorial Mundo Hispano, 2009) and her more recent book Historia del Cristianismo (México: CUPSA, 2019).
